In addition to following a keto diet, drinking bone broth for her overall glow, and keeping up with a killer workout routine, the actress recently revealed in her #FitnessFriday Instagram Stories that she also does a form of intermittent fasting.
“I normally eat two meals a day,” Halle revealed in a Q+A session to her social media followers. “I normally skip breakfast and I sort of fast and I do my green drink or I do my bullet coffee,” she added.
- While it’s not entirely clear what form of fasting Halle does, it sounds a lot like the 16:8 diet—which Jenna Jameson is also a fan of, in addition to her keto diet—where you fast for 16 hours (typically overnight) and then eat what you want (in Halle’s case, a keto diet) for the remaining eight.
2. The keto diet and intermittent fasting are pretty closely linked—and are often done together. Because keto and intermittent fasting both help you reach ketosis (when your body starts burning fat for fuel instead of carbs), it may help you promote or enhance ketosis, Kelly Roehl, R.D.N., an advanced level dietitian at Rush University Medical Center, previously told WomensHealthMag.com.
Halle says it works for her, adding she breaks that fast (a.k.a., has breakfast—probably just a little later in the day) with an egg white omelet with red peppers and onions.

She also revealed that, because of her new training program with her trainer, Peter Lee Thomas, she’d had to add in some extra carbs to her diet (while still staying in ketosis). “I’ve had to have a little bit of carbs to get me through,” she said, adding that the extra carbs give her a “turbo boost of energy.” (And if you watch any of her workouts, that “turbo boost” is definitely working.)
